Direct Entry Admission: Can I be Admitted into the University with a Polytechnic Diploma?
Many times, this question has been asked by many direct entry admission candidates who wish to take their education beyond their National Diploma into the University. And so, some people get misguided into believing that it is impossible, but here is the truth, it is very possible! The information about the procedure is simple.
The following steps will further enhance your knowledge and guide you to making a decision.
STEP 1: Conception
First, conceive in your mind about the possibility of being admitted into a University. Visualizing it makes it a lot easier as you would have been mentally prepared to achieve your goal. This thought gives your desire a notch. Most definitely, this is where your faith and true conviction come to play.
STEP 2: Minimum requirement for Direct Entry Admission
You must understand that every institution would demand for its own minimum result requirement, but sometimes, these requirements vary with institutions. Be sure you must attain the highest cumulative grade point average, such that will make you stand a chance of being admitted into the school with no negotiations.

This is quite a comfortable position for a good chance of being admitted. You know how competitive it can be. Do ensure that your institution has been duly accredited by NABTEB (National Business and Technical Education Board) and recognized by NUC (National Universities Commission).

STEP 4: How to Apply for Direct Entry Admission
The application is divided into two, namely: online and manual.

Online Direct Entry Admission Application
On acquisition of the scratch card, simply log into www.jamb.org/directentry. Follow the instructions on the page:
- You will be required to scan your passport.
- Ensure to fill in the required blanks with your personal information and academic details.
- Review your application with precision
- Click print to print direct entry e-registration slip/ acknowledgement slip
- Click submit.
Manual Application for Direct Entry Admission
Furthermore, you should ensure the following for manual direct entry admission:
- obtain the e-registration /acknowledgement slip
- Make photocopies of the slip,
- Make photocopies of your credentials such as your WAEC/NECO certificates, your national diploma certificate or statement of result.
- Also, Make photocopies of certificate of Origin
- Put them in a large brown envelop
- Endeavour to attach the required passports
- Take the large brown envelop with all the required items included to JAMB office for processing.
NOTE: Your name shall be sent to the school you applied for. You shall wait for the stipulated time for screening exercise by your chosen institution. The Direct entry screening exercise takes place after Post-UTME or Admission screening exercise.
